Maryland Farm Bureau and Maryland FFA to Work Together

December 19, 2019 – Maryland Farm Bureau and the Maryland FFA Association signed a memorandum of understanding to grow leaders, build communities, and strengthen agriculture. The MOU outlines how the two organizations will work together to discover opportunities that benefit both their members and agricultural education students in Maryland.

“The Maryland FFA has always valued the support of the members of the Maryland Farm Bureau,” said Terrie Shank, Executive Director of Maryland FFA. “It is our hope that agricultural education programs and the FFA Association in Maryland will continue to grow and expand so that all students will be knowledgeable consumers and have access and opportunities to prepare for successful careers in the agriculture industry.”

“Many of our Farm Bureau members began their involvement in agriculture through FFA,” said past Maryland Farm Bureau President Chuck Fry. “We are proud to support and work with the FFA organization to continue to grow the next generation of leaders in Maryland agriculture.”

Together, Maryland Farm Bureau and Maryland FFA will attract, educate, inspire, and prepare students to enter careers in the agriculture, food, fiber, and natural resources industry. The MOU strengthens existing relationships between the two organizations as well as creates additional opportunities for collaboration.

The organizations will determine existing connections between county Farm Bureaus and local FFA chapters.  FFA will also use Farm Bureau advocacy resources and materials to train officers and find ways for members of each organization to interact during policy discussions or in policy communications.

The MOU was signed in Ocean City during Maryland Farm Bureau’s 104th annual convention.
